We (Jeff and Buffy) were raised in Montreal and the Eastern Townships. Following graduate studies (U of Ottawa and McGill, respectively) in 1983 we ventured west to Calgary. While raising a family of our own (3 sons),  Buff worked as an audiologist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, while I worked  initially for the Geological Survey of Canada and then for various oil companies in the “patch”. Though we love Calgary a significant part of our hearts has always remained in Quebec.  Every summer we have spent at least a few weeks back at Lake Memphremagog. We have three grown sons, Chris (the eldest at 27) and the twins Douglas and Braden (22). All graduated out of high school in the French immersion program, which at least gives them a fighting chance to pursue a career in Quebec, but for now they are all based out in Calgary. Cats and dogs have always been a part of our family, and the  current menagerie consists of 3 cats and a new Golden puppy named Caylee. Apart from a committed interest in the environmental movement, our interests also include history, hockey, photo restoration (Jeff) and sewing, antiques and cooking (Buffy). Of course a big part of our lives and dreams more recently has been centred on the desire to design and then build a truly sustainable home for our retirement.
